Guy holds a PhD in public policy (health economics) and a masters degree in agricultural science (economics). His research interests are mainly in the areas of health economics and public policy. Recent research includes economic evaluation and policy evaluation of health services and health/ accident interventions. Guy has links to Kai Tahu, is a Te Au Rangahau Research Associate and a Fellow of Te Mata o te Tau (Academy for Maori Research and Scholarship), is member of the scientific committee of the International Health Economics Association, the research committees of the Mountain Safety Council and Nga Pae o te Maramatanga, and is a board member of Guidelines and Economist Network International.
