Ifelayo Ojo is currently a pediatric resident at the University of Minnesota. Prior to this, he worked as a Consultant with the World Bank Group with a focus on health systems development. He has practiced medicine in both the public and private sector in Nigeria and conducted public health research across various African countries and in South America. Ifelayo went to medical school at the University of Ilorin, Nigeria; and studied Public Health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Maryland, where he received the Student Recognition Award for Outstanding Service in 2009. He spent most of his time at the World Bank working with the Health in Africa Initiative which focuses on how private resources can contribute to national health goals with an emphasis on maternal and child health. The last project he worked on was a process evaluation of results-based financing in 8 countries assessing their efforts to decrease preventable maternal and child deaths. Ifelayo is interested in combining international clinical pediatric work with public health research and implementation of programs to protect the health and development of children across the globe, especially in Nigeria.
